Promit Sen is the youngest son of Legendary Rabindra Sangeet exponent, Late
Sagar Sen. He inherited his father's legacy at a very early age through his father's expert tutelage. Since the age of 5, Promit underwent rigorous vocal training under the Legendary Dhrupad Maestro Padma Bibhushan Ustad Nasir Aminuddin Dagar, popularly known as DAGAR BROTHERS. He received percussion "Tabla" training from the legendary Padma Shree Late Pt. Gyan Prakash Ghosh and took Piano lessons from Shri Mukti Banerjee.
As a child artist, Promit sang for AIR, Doordarshan and with HMV, he cut two children albums "Hingshutey Daityo" and "Orey Mor Shishu Bholanath".
He was the youngest artist in Kolkata when he signed with EMI-HMV in 1988. He released six albums from 1989 to 1996 and cut several private albums & CDs with various other companies over the years.
Promit released his home production "Sonar Harin"- a compilation of Tagore songs in 1997 that was a runaway hit and was in the Top 10 countdowns in Bengal. The second home production "Tomaro Geeti" was released in 1998.
He rendered playback for several Bengali feature films including the Tapan Sinha directed, National Award Winning Film "Antardhan" and "Ajab Gayer Ajab Katha".
From 1988 to 1994, at the invitation of Tagore Society of the United States of America Promit gave live performances at New York, New Jersey, Boston, Washington, Detroit, Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco and several other cities in US & UK. His recitals were widely acclaimed and he received several citations from the US Senators, Congressmen, Mayors and several other prominent personalities. His programmes were broadcasted by BBC, ITV and other channels in US and UK.
Promit is considered one of the leading exponent of Tagore Songs in Bengal.
